Considering that the Bills defense was the strength of their team and has been for quite some time, using their first-round pick on a defensive player might not come off as a possible decision. However, I don’t believe it’s far-fetched to say that Buffalo’s defense could used some high-end depth at defensive end to possibly upgrade from Trent Murphy and Jerry Hughes, especially with Shaq Lawson slated for free agency.

That’s where K’Lavon Chaisson can come into the fold. Chaisson is, admittedly, one of my draft crushes in the 2020 class. From a physical standpoint, he checks every box to be a versatile and effective edge rusher at the NFL level regardless of scheme. However, he needs to develop technically and add a bit more bulk. Even still, rotating in early behind the Bills veterans could allow Chaisson to come along slowly and blossom into a star.

The Bills made moves in the 2019 offseason to get Josh Allen some viable weapons in the passing game, drafting tight end Dawson Knox and signing John Brown and Cole Beasley in free agency. However, the skill positions on the Buffalo offense are still not done being built as they could still use depth and, likely, a viable No. 1 target in the passing offense. Enter Justin Jefferson from LSU.

Working with Joe Burrow in the prolific LSU offense this season, Jefferson has shined in a big way. While not the greatest athlete, he has good enough speed to beat coverage over the top but also has nice, developed route-running ability to go with reliable hands and the ability to win in 50-50 situations. With his awareness and ability to find himself open against any coverage, Jefferson can really help Allen take the next step in his development as a passer.
