As his social media and general antics continue, Antonio Brown might have a new venture in the works away from the NFL and in the boxing ring.

Social media has been abuzz over the last couple of days. Disgraced NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown may be headed back to the world of athletic competition. No, he won’t be back on the gridiron anytime soon, or so it seems. Instead, he’s in talks to fight YouTube star Logan Paul in a boxing match, per TMZ Sports.

As crazy and farfetched as the thought is, according to Paul, it’s closer than anyone expected. Paul is serious about boxing the former, Steeler, Raider and Patriot. He was asked about it by TMZ Sports and made an eventual bout seem imminent.

It all started when Paul called out Brown last month. Brown responded through social media telling the YouTuber to square up. Paul responded with an A-plus level burn:

If you didn’t know already, Paul is serious about boxing. He’s already fought twice against fellow YouTube vlogger KSI. The first fight ended in a draw and the rematch was won by KSI by split decision.

Brown, meanwhile, had a tumultuous NFL season. After being traded to the Raiders in the offseason, he was released amid a litany of odd circumstances. He was then signed by New England and played one game with the Patriots. He was then released due to off-field issues and allegations.

While he waits for the league to finish their investigation into those allegations and to possibly remove him from the commissioner’s exempt list, his behavior continues to erratic. Just two weeks ago, he worked out for the New Orleans Saints, just to admit it was all a publicity stunt days later. Put simply, he’s done nothing to help further his potential return to the NFL.

Paul believes fighting Brown would give the wide receiver renewed focus, something Paul himself knows all too well. After posting a video that showed an apparent suicide victim in Japan in one of his videos, he was met with immense backlash (warranted). He says that left him in a dark place but the fight with KSI got him out of that and giving him a sense of purpose.

Perhaps a bout between Brown and Paul would do the same for the former.

For what it’s worth, Odds Shark gave us odds for a potential boxing match between the two with Paul as the heavy favorite:

At the very least, Brown would get a nice payday for making this fight happen. But maybe — just maybe — it would also give him one last chance to redeem himself.

If he commits and follows through with this whole thing, it could bode well for him, especially after the Raiders fiasco.
