Houston Texans vs. Kansas City Chiefs: 5 Bold predictions for Divisional Round
The Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs square off in the Divisional Round of the 2020 playoffs. Bold predictions for the matchup at Arrowhead.
On Sunday afternoon at Arrowhead Stadium, the Kansas City Chiefs will play host to the Houston Texans in the second Divisional Round playoff game of 2020 in the AFC. The winner of the contest that features two of the prized gems from the 2017 draft class, Patrick Mahomes and Deshaun Watson, will play host to the Titans next week in the AFC Championship Game.
Houston opened up the 2020 playoffs last week in a thrilling comeback win over the Bills but it wasn’t exactly a banner game for the Texans. They fell behind 16-0 early in the third quarter before Watson essentially put the team on his back while Buffalo gave them some help to execute the comeback to force overtime and then win.
Kansas City, meanwhile, begins their postseason run on Sunday as the No. 2 seed in the AFC. With the upsets that have already transpired in the playoffs, they have to be wary. However, this is close to the healthiest — save for losing Juan Thornhill — the Chiefs have been all year. Thus, they are in position to turn it on and make a run.
Will the Chiefs be able to do that at home as they try to claim the AFC or will Watson and the Texans have other plans? Here are five bold predictions for Sunday’s Divisional Round game.
5. Williams nets 150 total yards
Figuring out which Chiefs running back was going to be the featured guy on a given week was a near-impossible task as it’s just a crowded backfield in Kansas City. Damien Williams, LeSean McCoy and Daryl Williams all saw some time as the focal point in that part of their game.
Over the final two weeks of the regular season though, Damien Williams really emerged as the player many hoped he’d be this season. The former Dolphin finished the final two games with 28 carries for 189 yards and two touchdowns to go with seven catches for 57 yards and a score.
As the Texans linebackers have struggled at times this season, Reid is going to use Williams to pick on them a bit. Both as a runner and pass-catcher out of the backfield, the veteran running back is going to have a big day and end up with at least 150 total yards, likely breaking a big play along the way as well.
