2. Klint Kubiak

Another potential candidate is current Vikings assistant coach Klint Kubiak. Kubiak, who is the son of former NFL head coach and current Vikings assistant coach Gary Kubiak, is currently the quarterbacks coach in Minnesota and just wrapped up his first full season in that position during the 2019 campaign.

Prior to becoming the quarterbacks coach with the Vikings before the season, Kubiak spent the last three years as the offensive assistant and quarterbacks coach for the Denver Broncos. Prior to that, from 2013 to 2014, he served as the Vikings’ quality control and assistant wide receivers coach for two full years.

Kubiak just wrapped up his ninth season as a football coach, working five seasons in the NFL and four years in the college game with Colorado State University, where he also played football prior to kicking off his coaching career.

The potential of moving Kubiak into the offensive coordinator position for the 2020 season in Minnesota would be somewhat of a surprising move, but one that could make for a smooth transition as far as personnel goes.

For one, Kubiak is familiar with Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins with being the quarterbacks coach in 2019, which could benefit both the veteran quarterback and well as Minnesota’s offense.

Another intriguing aspect of moving Kubiak up to this open coaching position is that he is likely very familiar with the style of play that the Vikings would play with offensively, since his dad, Gary, is heavily involved in the gameplan on that side of the ball.

There are a few names to keep an eye on as potential targets for Minnesota as it searches for an offensive coordinator, but keep an eye on Klint Kubiak before an official decision is made.
