2. Jaron Brown, WR

When the Seahawks drafted three wide receivers in the 2019 NFL Draft, it looked like the writing was on the wall for Jaron Brown. However, Brown is still on the roster, along with two of those rookies. Seattle did release Brown in late August so the team could re-sign him on a cheaper one-year, $1.5 million deal. However, it looks like Brown’s time in Seattle is at an end.

Seattle originally signed Brown as a free agent in 2018. The team gave Brown a two-year, $5.5 million deal that they later looped around by releasing and re-signing him. The Clemson product experienced his best season in 2017, posting 31 receptions for 477 yards and four touchdowns.

With Doug Baldwin dealing with injuries, signing Brown gave Seattle another offensive weapon. At least, that’s what the move was supposed to do. While Brown started eight games in 2017, he started just six in his two years with the Seahawks. During that stretch, Brown produced 30 receptions, 386 yards, and seven touchdowns.

Brown recently turned 30. With Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf dominating at various points during the season, Brown looks obsolete. Moore, an RFA, outproduced Brown over the past two seasons, and ERFA Malik Turner even posted more yards than the former Arizona Cardinal this year.

The Seahawks have young, inexpensive options available at the wide receiver position. The team doesn’t need Brown anymore.
