Darnay Holmes. 4. player. 836. . CB. Bruins

There have been times when James Bradberry and Donte Jackson have been fine for Carolina at cornerback but they are also not the models of consistency. Some new blood could help this group and Darnay Holmes is a player that could be nice in coverage. While he’s small at 5-10 and not the greatest tackler, his quickness is top-notch and he has the footwork to excel in coverage. If he can get a bit stronger, he could thrive right away in a coverage role on the outside in any matchup.

player. 814. . S. Bulldogs . J.R. Reed. 5

Continuing to address a lacking secondary on Day 3 of the draft, the Panthers could also stand to upgrade at safety while also getting younger at the position as well. Getting J.R. Reed out of Georgia feels like a guy that would be tremendous value in the fifth round.

While Reed is not the most versatile player in the 2020 NFL Draft class, largely incapable of playing single-high and in coverage down the field, he’s great in the box with great instincts to make plays on what’s happening in front of him. Bringing him into this defense would give them another nice piece to utilize.

87. . WR. Carolina Panthers. Antonio Gandy-Golden. 6. player

D.J. Moore and Curtis Samuel have emerged as two high-quality players, guys who thrived in the Panthers passing game this season despite the inconsistent quarterback play that they had to deal with. Having said that, Carolina’s offense lacks a player like Antonio Gandy-Golden. A developmental piece out of Liberty, the wide receiver has a massive 6-4 frame and can be a big downfield threat. His technical refinement needs serious work but the potential is obvious.

Michael Divinity Jr.. 7. player. 817. . EDGE. Tigers

The Panthers drafted Brian Burns in the first round last year but could still stand to continue adding depth on the edge. In that regard, I like what LSU’s Michael Divinity Jr. could bring to the table as a versatile piece that could thrive under Rhule.

Divinity has some strong physical traits that make him a versatile piece, especially if he can add some mass. His issues have all been about motor, character and being passive on the field. If Rhule and the Panthers can light a fire under him, he can be a rotational piece picked up in the seventh round.
