Green Bay Packers vs. San Francisco 49ers: 5 Bold predictions for NFC Championship
2. Rodgers goes off with 350 yards, 3 TDs
Among the many narratives heading into the Packers’ matchup with the Seahawks in the Divisional Round last week was that quarterback Aaron Rodgers had been having a down year in the regular season. Those who believed in Green Bay’s ability to make a deep postseason run, however, thought that the veteran quarterback would be able to hit a new gear once the playoffs rolled around.
That was largely what happened on Sunday against Seattle. Rodgers finished the game going 16-of-27 for 243 yards and two touchdowns, carrying the offense while Aaron Jones and the run game were largely not all that effective. Furthermore, he made one big-time throw after another to keep drives alive and Green Bay in control of the action.
Of course, that stands in stark contrast to what Rodgers looked like in the regular-season matchup against the 49ers, which was one of the worst games of his illustrious career. In that contest, Rodgers went 20-of-33 for 104 yards and one touchdown. Frankly, it was an abysmal overall performance, one he won’t replicate on Sunday in the NFC Championship.
With the conference title hanging in the balance, Rodgers is about to make a huge statement against these Niners. While Nick Bosa and the San Francisco pass rush may get to him a couple of times on Sunday, he’ll find Davante Adams and the rest of his weapons to have a huge 350-yard day and at least three touchdowns to his credit.
