878. . OT. Hawkeyes . Tristan Wirfs. 1. player

Many people pointed to the regression of 2018 No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield as a primary reason as to why the Browns fell way short of expectations this season and those people aren’t wrong. The starting quarterback took a big step back. However, it’s hard to argue against the notion that the severely struggling offensive line didn’t hurt Mayfield, both by not delivering pressure and, by proxy, never allowing him to feel comfortable.

Subsequently, taking Tristan Wirfs out of Iowa with the No. 10 overall pick makes the most sense (especially as Jedrick Wills and Andrew Thomas were already off of the board in the simulation). Wirfs is a physical freak that can come in and start right away at right tackle, his position at Iowa. While he needs refinement with his hands, his athleticism and ability to move make him a strong asset that can start to shore up the offense.

S. Golden Gophers . Antoine Winfield Jr.. 2. player. 852.

Damarious Randall‘s injury and contract woes put the Browns in a tough bind throughout much of the 2019 season. But the simple truth is that Cleveland was not equipped at safety to really make an impact on the back end of the secondary this past year. Bringing in some NFL bloodlines with Antoine Winfield Jr., however, could help alleviate some of those woes and give them a playmaker.

While Winfield isn’t the greatest athlete in the 2020 draft class, his instincts in coverage are phenomenal. He’s not a pure cover player as he’s a willing and capable tackler as well but he’s versatile in being able to drop back on the back end of the defense and be effective against the pass in multiple roles. When you throw in the fact that he also brings some special teams value as a possible return-man option, Winfield feels like a potential home run in Round 2.
