With the Green Bay Packers falling one game short of the Super Bowl, what can they do in the 2020 NFL Draft to get themselves over the hump?

Suffice it to say that the Green Bay Packers saw the NFC Championship Game going a little bit differently in their minds than what transpired on Sunday night at Levi’s Stadium against San Francisco. Rather than avenge their regular-season blowout loss to the Niners, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers were in for more of the same as they suffered a crushing loss.

With two turnovers from Rodgers in the first half while the defense had no answer for the 49ers run game, the Packers fell into a massive hole over the first two quarters. When the dust settled going into the locker room at the half, Green Bay was down by 27 points. And though Aaron Jones, Davante Adams and the rest of the offense made a last-ditch effort at a comeback, it was too large a deficit to overcome.

Now the Packers are going into the 2020 offseason after falling just one game short of Super Bowl LIV. While it’s a disappointing feeling, there is cause for optimism in Green Bay. This team submitted a phenomenal year in the first season under head coach Matt LaFleur, making it to the NFC title game after posting a 13-3 record in the regular season.

While that may be true, this roster can still be improved. The two most glaring areas of need in Green Bay are at wide receiver and linebacker. The lack of consistent pass-catchers outside of Davante Adams was a real issue for the Packers all year, as was inconsistent play at linebacker in the middle of the defense.

Beyond those primary needs, the Packers could also look to add bodies on the offensive line, both in terms of potential starters and getting deeper up front. The same can be said for their three-man defensive front and the secondary as well. Lucky for Green Bay, the 2020 NFL Draft can answer many of their needs.

Though there are still three months until the draft, let’s take a look at how the Packers could possibly aim to retool for another playoff run next season with a seven-round mock draft after the NFC Championship loss to the 49ers.
