Minnesota Vikings: 3 Offseason moves to return to playoffs next season
With the offseason officially underway for the Minnesota Vikings, here are three moves that should take place for the Vikings to return to the playoffs in 2020.
While the 2019 season continues to wind down with just the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl left to be played in the NFL, the Minnesota Vikings are in full swing of heading into the 2020 offseason.
Minnesota finished up the 2019 campaign this season by returning to the playoffs after failing to do so the year prior, ending up obtaining the sixth seed and the second Wild Card spot in the NFC and reaching as far as the NFC Divisional Round, before falling on the road to the top-seeded San Francisco 49ers.
The Vikings saw their season come to a close after tallying a regular-season record of 10-6 overall, recording double-digit victories for the first time since the 2017 campaign when it finished the year at 13-3 while making it as far as the NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Along with grabbing 10 wins on the year, the Vikings finished in second place in the NFC North standings behind only the Green Bay Packers (13-3), while sitting ahead of the Chicago Bears (8-8) and Detroit Lions (3-12-1) within the division.
Although there will be eight Minnesota players that will take the field one more time this season in the annual Pro Bowl contest, the Vikings front office is shifting its focus solely onto the 2020 campaign, looking ahead to how the purple and gold can improve moving into the upcoming year.
While every offseason is important for teams to try and shore up various aspects of the team before going into a new season, this offseason will be an interesting one for Minnesota.
With the Vikings entering the offseason in somewhat of a difficult position in terms of the salary cap and who they want to retain or let go prior to the start of 2020, we could see a shift of player personnel on the team compared to who we saw take the field throughout the 2019 year.
With multiple tough offseason decisions likely on the horizon, let’s take a look at three offseason moves that Minnesota should make prior to the start of the new year while it tries to make an even deeper run in the playoffs in 2020.
