2020 NFL Mock Draft: What if the Bengals pass on Joe Burrow?
By Dan Parzych
After jumping out to a 5-2 start, the Indianapolis Colts seemed like they would at least be a lock for a Wild Card spot in the AFC playoff picture, especially with Jacoby Brissett proving he was capable of leading the offense following Andrew Luck’s surprise retirement.
Instead, the Colts would end up winning just two more games over the remainder of the season and would spend the playoffs watching from home.
Even if the arguments can be made that factors such as injuries or Indianapolis having to quickly to adjust to playing without Luck means the Colts deserve some slack, this past season still feels like a wasted opportunity.
With numerous areas in need of improvement heading into 2020, Indianapolis has a few different positions worth considering in the first round, and if they decide to go with a defender who is great at getting to the quarterback, A.J. Epenesa could be their answer.
First off, the Iowa star makes it easy when it comes to blazing past defenders, and the 22 sacks in 26 games over the last two seasons were incredible to witness.
Knowing Epenesa, it shouldn’t take long to see a smooth transition to the NFL level, and once he becomes comfortable, one can only imagine how much of a problem the pass-rusher will be to opposing quarterbacks.
