2020 NFL Mock Draft: What if the Bengals pass on Joe Burrow?
By Dan Parzych
Thanks to some wheeling and dealing with trades, the Miami Dolphins currently have three picks in the first round of this year’s draft, meaning they will be able to fill numerous team needs on opening night.
As crazy as it sounds, if the last month or so of the 2019 season is any indication of what next year has in store for the Dolphins, this could actually be a surprise contender in the AFC.
Since Miami is expected to focus on a quarterback for their first selection, it only makes sense for the Dolphins to go with a defensive player at No. 18.
While Miami will have plenty of great candidates to choose from, the one name that seems worthy of consideration could be Yetur Gross-Matos after a stellar career at Penn State.
Even though his pass-rushing skills could still use some improvement, Gross-Matos certainly makes up for this in other areas, whether it happens to be quickness or awareness.
Brian Flores was considered a defensive mastermind when taking the head coaching job in Miami due to his previous experience with the New England Patriots, and someone new like Gross-Matos could be the perfect project for him to work on moving forward.
