2020 NFL Mock Draft: What if the Bengals pass on Joe Burrow?
By Dan Parzych
Even though the Washington Redskins technically don’t need a quarterback after using a first-rounder on Dwayne Haskins last spring, take a look at what the Arizona Cardinals did during the same draft.
One year after using a first-round pick on Josh Rosen, the Cardinals felt they would be better off replacing the former UCLA star with Kyler Murray since Arizona had the top overall pick.
Like most young quarterbacks, Murray still has plenty to prove in regards to being the long-term answer for the Cardinals, but there is no question that he seems like a major upgrade compared to Rosen.
As for whether the Redskins would ever consider doing the same with Haskins if Joe Burrow were available at No. 2, well this may sound ridiculous to even consider since the former Ohio State finished his rookie campaign on a strong note, anything is possible in the NFL.
Between all of the NFL potential surrounding Burrow after finishing this season with 60 touchdown passes to the possibility of Ron Rivera not feeling as confident in Haskins being the answer, just imagine if this kind of scenario were to happen in Washington.
Haskins certainly deserves the chance to continue proving himself worthy of being the long-term starter with the Redskins, but also keep in mind the organization needs to do what is best for the team, even if that means drafting a quarterback in the first round for a second year in a row.
