50. 3. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Defensive Tackle . Auburn. Derrick Brown

Without question, the pressure will certainly be on Matt Patricia and the Detroit Lions entering the 2020 season after only winning three games in 2019.

When taking into consideration that two of those wins came in September, this sums up perfectly just how rough the final three months were for the Lions this past season.

Not even Matthew Stafford‘s back injury can be used as an excuse for the poor results in 2019 since most of these struggles were already taking place before the quarterback went down for the year.

As great as Stafford can be, if Detroit is going to have any shot at turning things around next season, Patricia needs to figure out a way to pull some tricks out of his old hate on defense that helped the New England Patriots have a top unit all those years.

The good news for the Lions is with Joe Burrow and Chase Young appearing to be locks as the first two picks in the draft, Detroit will most likely have a strong idea of which players will be available at No. 3.

Since defense will be extremely important in regards to playing in the NFC North, Derrick Brown could be a great project for Patricia to work with after four great years at Auburn.

Looking at Brown’s pass-rushing skills, one can only imagine the kind of impact this selection would have right away for Detroit’s defense.
