2020 NFL Draft: 11 Senior Bowl standouts who raised their stock
6. Jalen Elliott, S, Notre Dame
The rumblings about the defensive backs from multiple draft media outlets suggested there weren’t many stars in the group. The wide receiver talent was so great that it dwarfed most of the defensive backs. However, according to PFF Draft on Twitter, Note Dame safety Jalen Elliott made a big impression on the NFL.
"“Some NFL scouts at the Senior Bowl said Notre Dame’s Jalen Elliott was the biggest riser of any prospect in Mobile.”"
This comes as no surprise to Fighting Irish fans who saw Elliott make plays for them over the last two seasons. Part of the reason why he was invited to the Senior Bowl was his great junior year where he totaled 67 tackles, four interceptions and seven pass defenses. All he’s done is make plays in college.
The 6-0, 205-pound Elliot showed he had the skill-set and stickiness to line up against tight ends. He can drop back and play free safety thanks to his range, though he’s not ideally a single high safety. Still, he’s a player that offers flexibility due to his experience at every type of safety position.
He’s a nasty hitter who can set the tone for a team. With Elliott’s play at the Senior Bowl and a good showing at the combine, he’ll solidify himself as a top-100 prospect.
