2. Nick Bosa, DE, San Francisco 49ers

2019 Stats: 47 total tackles, 9 sacks, 1 INT, 2 passes defended, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumbles recovered

We all knew Nick Bosa was going to be a rockstar after the damage he did during his time at Ohio State. So when the San Francisco 49ers drafted the younger Bosa brother at No. 2 overall, it came as little surprise. It was even less of a surprise when he started wreaking havoc.

Despite not finishing as the rookie sack leader, Bosa was a human wrecking ball in 2019. At one point, there were even some social media campaigns that tried to dub him as the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year. That lost steam after a while, but that doesn’t mean the former Buckeye wasn’t still giving opposing offensive coordinators nightmares.

If the quarterback was dropping back to pass, it was likely Bosa would cause them some grief. His nine sacks, two forced fumbles and 25 quarterback hits are evidence of that. When his opponents tried to move the ball on the ground, Bosa was just as effective, often rag-dolling blockers and blow plays up in the backfield.

The 49ers have a knack for drafting top defensive line talent (Solomon Thomas excluded), and Bosa is the latest example. If he can keep this pace moving forward, he could easily rack up a couple of those DPOY awards — he’s already a shoo-in for the 2019 Defensive Rookie of the Year award.
