Defensive Tackle. Naquan Jones. Scouting Report. Michigan State. 5. player. 805. Pick Analysis

One of the areas on the Chicago Bears defense that could use more depth is at defensive tackle. Eddie Goldman has done a great job since he came to Chicago in 2015. He’s been a great run stuffer and does a good job of getting to the quarterback.

In 2019, Goldman dealt with a variety of injuries. Being as tough as he is, he only missed one game, the final one of the season. He did miss big chunks of other games, however.

Naquan Jones is a defensive tackle who can step in and give Goldman rest and have him healthy throughout the season.

Jones is 6-4 and weighs 338 pounds. He has the mass to clog up the middle of the line and stop the opponent’s rushing attack. Just like Goldman, he’s also nimble enough to do well with his pass rush. He gets off the snap quickly and does a good job at shedding blocks. Also, he can diagnose a play quickly and make adjustments.

That was a big step for him. Early on in his college career, he was thinking too much on and ended up missing out on plays. He’s a more natural player now, though. In his three seasons at Michigan State, Jones recorded 53 tackles (9.5 for loss), two sacks and two deflected passes.

Jones is a hometown kid as well. He was born in Mount Prospect and went to school at Evanston Township High School. It would be a good story if the Chicago Bears drafted him and he helped the team win games.
