Chicago Bears: 7-Round 2020 mock draft post-Senior Bowl
Ryan Pace has a penchant for going after small school prospects. He’s had some hits like runningback Tarik Cohen from North Carolina A&T. He also had a spectacular miss in tight end Adam Shaheen (Ashland University).
Pace continually goes after small school prospects and that won’t change in this year’s draft. A small school prospect who could be a hit is offensive lineman Alex Taylor.
Taylor is a huge body, measuring in at almost 6-9. He weighs 308 pounds and has a wingspan of 88 inches. There is room for him to put on even more weight on his frame without hindering his play. He is a former basketball player and that shows. His lower body movement is good and he uses his long arms to make the path to the quarterback longer.
Taylor is still a bit of a project. That is fine since the Bears still have Bobby Massie at right tackle. Taylor can back him up until he’s ready to step in and start.
Taylor needs to strengthen up a little. As he progresses under a professional football team’s conditioning program, however, he will get stronger and start moving bodies better than he can now.
Scouts wanted to see how Taylor did against better competition in Senior Bowl practices than he had at South Carolina State and he more than held his own. He opened eyes and could be a good pick for the Bears.
