New England Patriots: 3 Reasons Tom Brady won’t want to return
With the future of Tom Brady with the New England Patriots in question, here are three reasons why the future Hall-of-Famer won’t want to return in 2020.
There are few things in the sports world that have paired together better than Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. Brady, who just wrapped up his 20th season in the NFL and in New England in 2019, has spent his entire professional career with the Patriots after being selected in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft out of Michigan.
From that point on, Brady and New England have become an inseparable pair, with the quarterback recording Hall-of-Fame accolades including helping lead the Patriots to 17 AFC East titles and six Super Bowl titles in those 20 seasons.
After a year of frustration in 2019, one that ended in New England exiting the playoffs the earliest it has since the 2009 season, there is becoming a growing realization that Brady and the Patriots might end up separating and going in different directions this offseason and for a remainder of the veteran quarterback’s time under center in the league.
For the first time in his historic and lengthy career, Brady — who will turn 43 years old in August — will hit the free agency market this offseason while being able to pick where he would like to play since he committed to Michigan to play college football prior to entering the NFL.
Although it is hard to imagine Brady in another uniform other than the Patriots’ red, white and blue, there is a real possibility that the quarterback could look to move on from New England and take the field for a different team and organization in 2020.
There are plenty of other teams around the league that would be in the market for a quarterback, especially a quarterback to the caliber of Brady, and the quarterback could find out he might have a better chance to win at least one more Super Bowl elsewhere this year and beyond.
With the future of Brady in New England seriously up in the air for basically the first time ever, let’s go ahead and pick out three reasons why the Hall-of-Fame quarterback won’t want to return to the Patriots in 2020 and for a remainder of his career.
