Green Bay Packers vault to contender status with 7-round 2020 mock draft
Though Green Bay used a first-round pick on a wide receiver in this mock draft, I’m not content with just one addition at the position. They need to revamp this group and what they’ve tried previously in a hurry.
Thus, Bryan Edwards is the first of two sixth-round selections for the Packers. The South Carolina product has great size at 6-3, 215 pounds but performs like a much smaller player with nice speed and great elusiveness. He can be a possession target that can really complement Adams, Reagor and Lazard.
Some might prioritize the interior of the defensive line for the Packers a little more than I do but Tyler Clark out of Georgia is a nice addition in the sixth round to put some depth behind Kenny Clark and Dean Lowry. A behemoth at 6-4, 300 pounds, Clark struggled with his motor and consistency but has the physical tools to succeed when on the field at the NFL level.
After the season Aaron Jones had, the Packers aren’t in dire need of a running back. However, they could always stand to get deeper at the position and to add some new elements to the game. Antonio Gibson from Memphis could be that guy. He has a ton of juice with the ball in his hands, despite his limited work in the 2019 season, and could provide a dynamic change of pace for Jones and Jamaal Williams.
There’s no doubt that the Packers fixed their issues off the edge with the signings of Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith. However, if one of the Smith Bros were to go down, that would leave a lot of people less confident in that group.
Subsequently, Green Bay’s final pick in this mock draft is Carter Coughlin. A fantastic athlete that needs to put on mass, he was productive and worked hard at Minnesota and, at the very least, can contribute on special teams right away while developing into a rotational outside linebacker.
