If you’re in the group of people who watch for the Super Bowl halftime show, then you’re in luck. Here’s your guide to the Super Bowl 54 entertainment.

Every year, there is a select group of people who watch the Super Bowl for the halftime show. While most people watch it for the game, some see it as more of a glorified concert and rightfully so. In previous years, the halftime show has become less and less interesting especially after multiple artists declined last year. This marks the first year in which the NFL and Roc Nation are going to collaborate so it’s bound to be star-studded.

Last year, we were treated to Maroon 5, Big Boi, Travis Scott and even a special guest appearance by Spongebob Squarepants. For Super Bowl LIV, they’re going with a duo: Jennifer Lopez and Sharika. Considering the past few Super Bowl performers were men, it’s nice to see two women sharing the stage this year. Of course, there is always going to backlash as not everyone is going to be happy.

However, Lopez and Shakira are both extremely excited to be taking the stage together. As Shakira pointed out, she’s going to be performing on her birthday so it’s going to be special for her. As for Lopez, it’s going to cap off an already impressive year. Lopez started in Hustlers last year, got engaged and generally ruled the world of pop culture in 2019 so it’s only right that she’d start off 2020 with a performance at Super Bowl 54.

Currently, we don’t really know of a setlist or have any idea of what the two are singing. It’s assumed that Shakira will sing some of her big hits including “Hips Don’t Lie,” “Whenever, Wherever” and “She Wolf.” Jennifer Lopez also has a huge discography to choose from but some of her bigger hits include “Let’s Get Loud,” “Jenny from the Block” and “On The Floor.” No doubt the two are going to put on a good show, whether they perform together or do individual performances.

Additionally, we don’t know if there is going to be any special guests. Regardless, it’s nice to see that there are going to be two headlining performers this year. While Jennifer Lopez and Shakira probably weren’t anyone’s first choice, there’s no way they’ll disappoint. Considering that the Super Bowl is in Miami this year, it’s hopefully going to be a huge party. In addition to Jennifer Lopez and Shakira playing the halftime show, Demi Lovato is going to be singing the National Anthem before the game.

While it makes sense that Lopez and Shakira are both Latina and it’s in Miami, this choice seems a bit out in the left field. Overall, it feels like there could have been two acts that had bigger years in 2019. It seems like someone like the Jonas Brothers or Lizzo would be a good choice, but maybe we’ll be surprised. Either way, watching the halftime show is almost always a rite of passage when it comes to watching the Super Bowl.
