The San Francisco 49ers are slight underdogs in Super Bowl 54 but they have more than a fair shot. Bold predictions for the Niners against the Chiefs.

It took many people a while to believe in the San Francisco 49ers but, after a 13-3 regular-season showing from Kyle Shanahan’s team that landed them the No. 1 seed in the NFC followed by two dominant playoff wins, there’s no one denying the Niners now. And on Sunday, they have the opportunity to prove the doubters wrong once more in Super Bowl LIV.

Facing off against the vaunted Kansas City Chiefs, the 49ers have the opportunity to win their first Super Bowl since 1995. But while Jimmy Garoppolo was able to just turn and hand the ball off to Raheem Mostert and let the running game and defense dominate in the NFC Championship Game, that won’t be the case against Patrick Mahomes in Andy Reid‘s offense.

Sunday has the opportunity to be one of the most entertaining Super Bowl matchups in NFL history. The 49ers are slight underdogs but it’s quite narrow, meaning these are two high-level, high-quality teams that would both be deserving of winning the Lombardi Trophy.

So how will San Francisco perform on this stage? Let’s make five bold predictions for the 49ers in Super Bowl LIV against the Chiefs.

5. Garoppolo throws for 275+ yards, 3 TDs

There have been numerous times this season when Jimmy Garoppolo didn’t have to carry his team on offense. Under Kyle Shanahan, this is one of the most dangerous running backs in the league. But the NFC Championship was the biggest example of that as Garoppolo threw only eight pass attempts.

While that may be true, we have actually seen Jimmy G step up when he’s needed to this season. In the Week 14 win against the Saints, Garoppolo threw for 349 yards, four touchdowns and one interception on 26-of-35 passing. And that’s just one instance of the signal-caller stepping up.

Though the 49ers defense is immensely talented, they won’t be able to stop Mahomes and the Chiefs offense. However, Garoppolo will step up and be able to go blow-for-blow with Kansas City, ending up with a 275-yard, three-touchdown performance on the big stage.
