Atlanta Falcons: 3 Lessons learned from Super Bowl 54
1. Continue to air things out, focus on thriving offense
The final thing that was put on display in the Super Bowl showdown between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night in Miami was each teams ability to air things out on offense and their capability to lean on their top-notch offensive
In the game, both Kansas City and San Francisco opened things up on offense with their passing games, and the Chiefs’ ability to air things out in the second half and more specifically in the fourth-quarter comeback — mixed with San Francisco’s inability to limit that passing game — was the difference-maker in Kansas City winning a ring at the end of the night.
The Chiefs finished the game with a total of 286 yards passing and two touchdowns through the air, and Patrick Mahomes and company had their way in the passing game especially in the fourth quarter to score 21 unanswered points in the final quarter to take the game away from San Francisco.
The 49ers, on the other hand, finished with a total of 210 passing yards and one touchdown led by quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and company, although it ultimately wasn’t enough to come out on top in the game.
The showcase of firepower on offense and specifically in the passing game should have showed the rest of the NFL and especially the Falcons that they should continue to air things out and focus on their thriving offensive unit moving forward.
With Atlanta containing talent consisting of the likes of quarterback Matt Ryan, tight end Austin Hooper, wide receivers Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley, and multiple others, there’s no reason that the Falcons couldn’t be able to match what both the Chiefs and 49ers displayed in the big game on Sunday.
