Round 4

Gary Jennings: F

Initially, Gary Jennings looked like a terrific pick by the Seahawks. Seattle already landed Metcalf at a great spot, and Jennings looked like another quality selection. Unfortunately, Jennings never suited up during a meaningful game for the Seahawks, and the team waived him in early November. The Miami Dolphins claimed Jennings, but he landed on IR not long after appearing in Week 11 for a few snaps.

In his final two seasons at West Virginia, Jennings produced 151 receptions, 2,013 receiving yards, and 14 touchdowns. It’s a shame he could not become a part of Seattle’s young receiving corps.

Phil Haynes: D-

The Wake Forest product landed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list in mid-July, and Seattle activated him in early November. Phil Haynes did not appear in a regular-season game for the Seahawks, but he played in both of Seattle’s playoff games.

With injuries devastating Seattle in the postseason, Haynes appeared on special teams in the Wild Card Round and played 69% of Seattle’s offensive snaps against the Packers.

George Fant, Joey Hunt, Germain Ifedi, and Mike Iupati are all entering free agency this spring. With a starting guard and several versatile offensive linemen potentially leaving the team, Haynes will compete for more snaps as a rotational player next year.

Ugochukwu Amadi: D-

With Justin Coleman, a prominent slot corner, departing Seattle during free agency in 2019, Ugo Amadi looked like a potential replacement. Instead, the Seahawks tossed Akeem King and Jamar Taylor into Coleman’s old role while Amadi played special teams.

After playing only 21 defensive snaps in the first 14 weeks of the season, Amadi did appear for 55 snaps in the final three games. He also saw action on defense during both of Seattle’s playoff games.

Amadi finished his rookie season with 17 defensive and special teams tackles. Expect him to play on a more consistent basis in 2020, but still serve primarily as a special teams player.
