3. San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers put together one of the more impressive seasons throughout the NFL in 2019, reaching the Super Bowl a year after winning just four games in the regular season.
With a dominant defense already established in San Francisco, the 49ers could try and look to continue to improve things on the other side of the line of scrimmage and on offense as they prepare to make another run at a league title in 2020.
In an attempt to boost the passing game throughout the 2019 campaign, San Francisco did go out and acquire wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders in a trade with the Denver Broncos in the middle of the year, a move that helped give Jimmy Garoppolo and the 49ers passing game another speedy and deep-ball threat in the passing attack.
But with Sanders now set to hit the free-agent market this offseason, the 49ers will be on the lookout for a wide receiver to bring in to fill that gap within the offense. And Stefon Diggs could very well fill that role within an already potent offensive group.
During the regular season and especially in the postseason run leading up to the Super Bowl, San Francisco showed the ability to hurt opposing defenses with its ability to run the ball. Behind Garoppolo, however, the passing game was a little bit more inconsistent although it still put together a strong performance during the year.
One way to help boost that passing attack and make the offense even more dangerous to counter their already-stellar defense, the 49ers could be a team to look into the idea of trying to pull off a trade to acquire Diggs this offseason.
Diggs potentially landing in San Francisco would make this 49ers offense even scarier, with it already containing the likes of George Kittle at tight end and Deebo Samuel at wide receiver, among others.
Diggs would provide Garoppolo and company with another deep-ball threat and a speedy wide receiver similar to what Sanders was able to provide San Francisco with this past year.
If the 49ers are able to pull off a trade for Diggs this offseason, they would not only be adding a new dominant No. 1 wide receiving option to their offense but would put them in a good position to make yet another deep run in the playoffs in 2020.
