Denver Broncos build around Drew Lock in 7-round 2020 mock draft
By Lucas Schuh
Heading into the 2019 college football season, Ben Bartch was a relatively unknown prospect unless you are a hardcore draft analyst who was already deep into the tape. However, Bartch has made a big name for himself while playing at a small school in Minnesota, St John’s University. Despite that, he performed extremely well in Division III.
Bartch dominated in his pass sets with nice patience and displaying impressive vision. The question remained, however, of how he would play if he ever played against FBS-level talent. Well, the question got answered, at least partially, because Bartch was invited to the Senior Bowl.
At the Senior Bowl, many would have thought that Bartch would struggle playing against high-level talent for the first time. Instead, Bartch proved a lot of his doubters wrong and looked more than good when facing the best seniors in the country.
Garret Bolles had his issues last season with penalties and inconsistent play last season until the final weeks in which he played well. And free-agent signing JaWuan James didn’t play much at all due to his injuries last year.
I don’t think the Broncos have a major weakness at tackle but, with Bartch still needing some development and strength added to him before he’s ready to consistently see the field in the NFL, he would be a good fit behind James and Bolles on the Denver offensive line.
Other Players Available: Kenny Willekes, Troy Dye, Darnay Holmes
