The New Orleans Saints could use some minor upgrades in 2020 NFL free agency but they should avoid these players on the open market.

The New Orleans Saints are surely among the most complete teams in the NFL. It’s clear given how well they’ve drafted the last few years. In addition, they’ve stayed away from big-name free agents and, instead, focused on guys who are going to be better solutions in the long term.

That’s not to say that the Saints won’t make a splash in 2020 NFL free agency, however. With a future possibly not involving Drew Brees, they might be forced to make some huge moves this offseason.

If the Saints are able to keep Brees as expected, however, they still shouldn’t need much help in terms of free agency. The team could possibly deal with their wide receiver and tight end issue on offense. Defensively, the Saints lack depth at cornerback aside from Marshon Lattimore. Lattimore is easily the biggest and most talented prospect while the others are seemingly in the background.

It could be a lot worse for the team, but they’ve managed to keep the solid players they have and were rewarded with a noteworthy, albeit shorter season than fans had hoped for. Now it’s about the savvy moves that make the team better but don’t necessarily rock the boat. Heading into the 2020 NFL free agency storm, some of New Orleans’s needs will hopefully be fulfilled but others won’t be dealt with until the draft.

As free agency looms, the Saints need to make sure to avoid a handful of players but these three, in particular, are a must to steer clear of. Whether it be a big name with a big price tag or a player who should hang it up, the Saints need to make sure that they avoid these free agents at all costs.
