It was pretty clear the New England Patriots lacked a legitimate No. 1 receiver this past season, evidenced by the fact that the team traded a second-round pick to the Atlanta Falcons for Mohamed Sanu before the trade deadline. The Sanu experiment failed, which meant Tom Brady was left with an injury-riddled Julian Edelman as his go-to target for much of the 2019 season.

There were rumors that Minnesota Vikings receiver Stefon Diggs was on the trade block this past fall, but the Vikings elected to stand pat with their star wideout. That could be a different story this offseason.

Diggs was fined over $200,000 for missing practices in Week 5 and had several other cryptic posts on social media. “I can’t sit up here and act like everything is OK. It’s obviously not. But what I can say at this point, just trying to work through it,” Diggs later told ESPN.

The Patriots have never been a team with a great track record of drafting receivers. Head coach and general manager Bill Belichick has often relied on veteran help at the position, mainly because New England’s offensive system is quite complicated.

Don’t be surprised if the Patriots make a serious run at acquiring Diggs this offseason. Of all the players on this list, Diggs may be the one most likely to be traded. Diggs clearly isn’t happy in Minnesota, and the Vikings can reload at receiver thanks to a deep draft class in 2020.
