2020 NFL Mock Draft: What if Redskins replace Dwayne Haskins with Tua Tagovailoa?
By Dan Parzych
Once again, if the Washington Redskins did pull off a shocking move in the first round by going with Tua Tagovailoa at No. 2, one of the teams that could end up changing their plans in the top 10 are the Los Angeles Chargers.
One year after making a surprise playoff run to the Divisional Round, the Chargers took a major step back during the 2019 season by only winning five games.
Plenty of factors came into play behind Los Angeles taking a step back, but right near the top of the list was Philip Rivers no longer looking like an effective quarterback under center.
Throughout his career, there have been numerous times in which Rivers has looked like a top quarterback in the league, but 2019 made it clear the veteran may be better off serving as a backup in the NFL.
If the Chargers do in fact have plans of moving on from Rivers, the draft could be the perfect opportunity to find a potential replacement since there will be plenty of great candidates to choose from.
But if three quarterbacks are selected in the top five, Los Angeles may need to hold off, and focus on a different position Jedrick Wills with his ability as a pass protector could be a solid option in the first round for the Chargers.
No matter who ends up being the starter under center for Los Angeles in 2020, the addition of someone like Wills will at least provide better protection from the offensive line.
