2. Philadelphia Eagles

It was a weekly occurrence throughout the 2019 season that the Philadelphia Eagles secondary was being put under the microscope. Partially due to a laundry list of injuries and also simply due to poor performance by guys such as Ronald Darby, the Eagles were quite susceptible against opposing passing attacks throughout the year. But now with $40.93 million free under the salary cap, they have room to make some big moves.

Playing under defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz as a defensive back isn’t easy as he demands a ton from his cornerbacks in man coverage. Having said that, Slay has proven more than capable of succeeding in that type of role if he were asked to do so. While there are tantalizing free agents on the open market for Philly to pursue, a trade for Slay may still be among their best options to help aid the secondary.

1. Las Vegas Raiders

The 2020 offseason is already huge for the Raiders as they officially move from Oakland to Las Vegas. However, it could be even bigger depending on the moves they choose to make as they look to revamp the secondary, address the weapons on offense and potentially move on from Derek Carr at quarterback.

No matter what happens under center, however, the Raiders need to get some quality in the defensive back group. After trading Gareon Conley ahead of the deadline in 2019, second-round rookie Trayvon Mullen stepped in and flashed high-end potential. Outside of him, however, there is no one proven on the Raiders roster at cornerback.

Head coach Jon Gruden and general manager Mike Mayock have already proven they aren’t shy about making a splash and trading for Darius Slay would be a splash worth making. He would immediately become CB1 in Las Vegas and give this Raiders defense a reliable duo at cornerback between him and Mullen.
