3. Devin McCourty (Age: 33)

There is some talk about quarterback Tom Brady possibly coming to Chicago to take the helm and mentor Mitchell Trubisky. That might be a dream that probably doesn’t come to fruition. Something closer to reality (but not much closer) is Devin McCourty pairing up with Jackson.

Yes, McCourty played free safety last season but he’s also played strong safety in his career. The Bears could decide to draft someone and have McCourty mentor him and some of the other safeties, help the team win some games and ride off in a season or two.

His playoff experience can be a great asset to the defense. Yes, there are great players on the unit but there isn’t too much playoff experience. He’s played in 23 playoff games, so he’s seen just about everything.

The Patriots are notorious for getting rid of a player a little too soon instead of too late. Even though McCourty had a tremendous 2019 season (five interceptions, seven passes defended, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery), they could decide that he had his last hurrah and let him walk.

The Bears should think about scooping him up, have him help the team navigate the playoffs, and get his replacement ready to take over.
