With the start of NFL free agency around the corner, here are five players that the Minnesota Vikings should re-sign before the start of the 2020 season.

After the Minnesota Vikings were able to return to the playoffs and made a run to the NFC Divisional Round in 2019 after failing to reach the postseason a year prior, this offseason will likely be one of great importance for the franchise and its future moving forward.

Minnesota, which goes into the offseason sitting in a tough situation when it comes to its salary cap situation, might ultimately be looking to shed some contracts prior to the 2020 season kicking off.

While the Vikings continue to aim to shore up a few needs within the team after wrapping up the 2019 regular season schedule with a record of 10-6 overall — which was good enough to finish second in the NFC North behind the Green Bay Packers and resulted in the purple and gold securing the second NFC Wild Card spot — the purple and gold will also have some decisions to make as far as who they want to bring back to the squad this year.

Before Minnesota is able to try and improve various needs and fill holes within the depth chart on both sides of the ball, an evaluation process of who it views as important players to return to the team will take place shortly before the NFL Draft and free agency kicks off.

The Vikings did have a handful of players on both offense and defense that are getting up there in age, but also played some key roles on the team in 2019. That’s where the decision of if Minnesota wants to move forward with those respective players by re-signing them will take place or if the franchise wants to part ways and look elsewhere for talent.

With their tough salary cap situation going into 2020, one thing is for certain in that the Vikings are going to have to make some tough decisions at some point.

With Minnesota’s front office starting to prepare for who they want to move forward with as an organization and start to look ahead to the 2020 season, let’s predict and dive into five players who the Vikings should attempt to re-sign ahead of the new year.
