3. Eric Wilson

A player that stepped up and stood out among the Minnesota Vikings defensive unit in 2019 came within the linebacker unit in backup linebacker Eric Wilson.

Wilson had a lot of positive moments and proved his worth on Minnesota’s defensive side of the field throughout the season while backing up Vikings starting linebackers Eric Kendricks and Anthony Barr.

As he goes into the offseason as a restricted free agent, Minnesota will have the ability to match any offers that Wilson ends up agreeing to during the offseason and ultimately has the last say on if he appears back among the Vikings defense in 2020 and beyond.

In 2019, Wilson finished up his third season in the league and with the Vikings after he came out of Cincinnati and was signed by Minnesota as an undrafted free agent in 2017.

While appearing in all 16 regular-season games for the Vikings while making six starts on defense during the year, Wilson finished with a career-best year for Minnesota. the 25-year-old linebacker tallied a career-high 62 tackles, including six tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, three sacks and forcing one fumble.

During his time with the Vikings thus far, Wilson has done nothing but impress on the defensive side of the ball and has continuously stepped up when his number has been called for Minnesota.

If Wilson thinks that he is ready to move on from the Vikings and another team offers him both a starting position and a large contract to bring him in, he might end up parting ways with Minnesota before the new year kicks off. But if he has an interest in returning to the Vikings in 2020, the purple and gold would be smart in trying to hold onto Wilson moving forward.
