The New York Jets have moves to make in 2020 NFL free agency and these three big-name targets would be tremendous assets for Gang Green.

NFL free agency is right around the corner. March 18 is the date the new league year begins and when players will be available to be signed to new contracts. And the New York Jets currently have $49.6 million in salary-cap space — not nearly as much as last year but still not too shabby.

While Gang Green will have seven draft picks (including a pair of third-rounders) in the 2020 NFL Draft in April, free agency is an important element in fortifying any 53-man roster. And after a tumultuous 2019 season, there is certainly some fortifying to be done when it comes to the Jets in 2020 NFL free agency.

Let’s take a look at a trio of big-name free agents that general manager Joe Douglas should seriously consider signing in the 2020 offseason.

The Jets are set at safety with Pro Bowler Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye (as long as he can stay healthy). The problem lies at cornerback where Gang Green really struggled in 2019. The days of Revis Island are long gone and New York needs a solid cornerback to head the secondary.

That’s where Logan Ryan comes in.

The former Rutgers star enjoyed the finest season of his seven-year NFL career for the upstart Tennessee Titans last year with a career-high 103 tackles, 4.5 sacks, eight QB hits, 18 passes defensed and four forced fumbles. The 5-11, 195-pounder added four interceptions during the regular season and a nine-yard interception return for a touchdown in the Titans’ 20-13 triumph over New England in the AFC Wild Card Round last season.

Ryan is in his prime (29 years old) and would bring a great deal of stability to a cornerback corps that is starving for leadership. He has 17 regular season interceptions since he entered the NFL as a third-round selection of the Patriots in 2013.

Ryan would be a huge upgrade over current starters Darryl Roberts and Austin Maulet. This is a player that Douglas has to get.
