2. Seattle Seahawks

To say that the Seattle Seahawks have a lot of work to do in the 2020 offseason to maintain the integrity of their defensive line would be putting it lightly. After trading for Jadeveon Clowney prior to last season, the former No. 1 overall pick is now headed for a massive contract in NFL free agency, one the Seahawks might not be able — or want to — dole out to the former Texan.

Beyond that, Seattle is also facing the prospect of losing defensive tackles Jarran Reed and Al Woods in addition to Ezekiel Ansah, all of whom are entering unrestricted free agency as well. Thus, the Seahawks will have to make some big moves this offseason if they want to consistently be able to generate a pass-rush moving forward, even if 2019 first-round L.J. Collier could break out.

Adding a proven veteran like Everson Griffen would make a ton of sense in that regard. The 32-year-old would come in and immediately be the best player on the defensive line, especially if the Seahawks choose to not re-sign Clowney. Furthermore, this is an established defensive team that would surely put Griffen in a situation to succeed.

If that weren’t enough, the success of the Seahawks under Pete Carroll is well-documented at this point. Griffen would be joining a team that finished at 13-3 last season and has the potential to make a Super Bowl run with Russell Wilson still leading the charge on offense. That could be enticing if the Seahawks look to make a smart financial play for Griffen that pays him well but not as much as a player like Clowney.
