Green Bay Packers beef up linebacker, weapons in pre-Combine 7-round mock draft
NFL bloodlines don’t get much stronger than being the son of Hall-of-Fame wide receiver Randy Moss, which is precisely the case when it comes to Thaddeus Moss. The LSU tight end clearly has the genetic traits that you need to make it in the NFL. But what makes him even more impressive as he comes off a national championship is that he has the film already to back it up — not just the last name.
While Moss is not an elite athlete that’s going to dominate games with his speed and quickness from the position, he’s a strong player that’s a willing blocker with the ability to help out the likes of Aaron Jones in the Packers rushing attack, which really took off in 2019. And as Moss really developed and produced more later in the year as a pass-catching threat, he could be a versatile in-line tight end to really boost Green Bay’s offense.
Continuing to diversify the skill-sets in the wide receiver room for the Packers, they already added a speedy playmaker in K.J. Hamler in the second round. But that doesn’t mean that they can’t add more speed and big-play ability later in the draft to go with the crafty Adams and the rest of the big-bodied trees that Rodgers has to throw to. That’s why they take Devin Duvernay here in the fifth round.
Duvernay is not the most refined player by any means in this class. His route-running is lacking, his hands are not perfect and he could stand to get better physically against press coverage. What he does have, however, is the ability to create separation both without and with the ball in his hands. That ability would give the Packers another huge weapon that really can keep defenses on their heels.
