New England Patriots: 5 Players that should be re-signed for 2020

With the start of NFL free agency taking place soon in the league, here are five players that the New England Patriots should re-sign this offseason.

After an early exit in the postseason following winning the Super Bowl a year prior, the New England Patriots enter a crossroads this offseason while they will be experiencing their most important offseasons in the last two decades.

The moves that are made by New England this offseason and the players that the Patriots are able to re-sign will decide whether or not they will return as Super Bowl contenders in 2020 or if they will enter somewhat of a rebuilding mode for the first time in the 2000s.

The biggest question mark surrounding the organization is if veteran quarterback and future Hall-of-Famer Tom Brady will ultimately return to the only NFL team he has played for as he hits free agency for the first time in his legendary career.

In 2019, New England consisted of a solid defensive group that emerged as one of the top units in the league. On the offensive side of the ball, however, the Patriots have some holes to fill to surround Brady with if he indeed returns in 2020 and for the remainder of his playing career.

Throughout the course of the regular season, New England got off to a hot start while winning nine of its first 10 contests, but the Patriots tapered off to round out the year and ultimately exited the playoffs in the AFC Wild Card Round.

Although there were a decent amount of positives that took place for the Patriots during the 2019 campaign, the year ultimately ended up in disappointment for a franchise that often finds themselves in contention for a league title.
