892. . Offensive Tackle. Huskies . Matt Peart. 89. player

Watching Kirk Cousins help the Vikings earn a trip to the playoffs this past season after coming up short the year before was a huge relief for the Vikings, but also puts the pressure on for 2020.

As impressive as it was to watch Minnesota hand the New Orleans Saints a loss on the road in the Wild Card Round, the Vikings coming up short the way they did the following weekend against the San Francisco 49ers shows the offense has a few areas in need of improvement.

Most importantly, as great as it has been for Minnesota to have reliable weapons such as Diggs and Thielen in the passing game, the Vikings realize the importance of making sure Cousins has the proper protection from the offensive line under center.

The Vikings could always address the offensive line in one of the first two rounds, but if they did wait until No. 89, Matt Peart out of Connecticut should still be available.

Like most rookies, Peart has a few areas he will need to improve on such as footwork once making the transition to the NFL, but at least the lineman finds ways to make up for it in other areas.

Take a look at Peart’s ability as a run blocker for example to go along with the protection he would be able to provide for Cousins, and there’s certainly a case to be made for the Huskies star to be a solid Day 2 selection.
