Minnesota Vikings replace Stefon Diggs in latest 7-round 2020 mock draft
By Dan Parzych
Taking players from smaller schools can sometimes be risky in the draft, but Akeem Davis-Gaither seems like one of those individuals who would be well worth the risk.
Based on Davis-Gaither’s final two years at Appalachian State, the linebacker seems like the kind of player who will only continue to get better with experience in the NFL, which is exactly why the Vikings would be wise to consider the possibility with their final selection.
Despite being smaller than most linebackers, Davis-Gaither still has the physical style of play that causes all sorts of problems for opponents, and his quickness as well is just one of many reasons as to why the Vikings need to give this serious consideration if in position.
Remaining a top contender in the NFC will be far from easy for a team like the Vikings, and if they do end up deciding to move on from Diggs, it will only make things that much more difficult in 2020.
This late in the draft, it can be difficult to find players with the ability to stand out right away during their rookie campaign, and while Davis-Gaither seems like a long shot at the moment, this could be the kind of motivation needed to prove any doubters wrong.
