Las Vegas Raiders: Dream targets during 2020 NFL free agency
1. Tom Brady, QB, New England Patriots
I know there’s been a lot of discussion about whether or not the Raiders truly need a change at quarterback. Yes, Derek Carr has been exceptional at times, but there have also been plenty of instances where he seemed to limit the Las Vegas offense.
Regardless, would the Raiders really pass on the opportunity to add Tom Brady under center? If you think so, then you’re not of sound mind.
Brady is an obvious upgrade on Carr, even at his advanced age of 43 and coming off a down year. No longer is the GOAT able to turn a gaggle of average receivers into Pro Bowlers, meaning he needs a stronger supporting cast. And yet, if the Raiders could sign Brady and bring aboard a top receiver (Green maybe?), the sky is the limit for this Las Vegas passing game.
It’s unclear at this point what the future holds for Brady. There’s at least a decent chance he returns to the New England Patriots, seeing as he’s spent his entire 20-year NFL career with the club. And yet, if he decides to take his talents elsewhere, the Raiders are currently seen as one of the favorites to ink the ageless wonder.
Mayock and Gruden figure to make a number of big changes to this Las Vegas roster in 2020. With plenty of cap space to spend and an exciting new city to call home, anything is possible — even signing the greatest quarterback to ever grace the gridiron.
