New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman said the team is open for business to trade the No. 4 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Who could they trade with?

With a strong quarterback class in the 2020 NFL Draft, there has been a ton of talk about potential trades in the top 10 as teams jockey for position to get their player. The most popular candidate to trade out of the top five selections has been the Detroit Lions. However, the New York Giants have seemingly thrown their hat into the ring in that regard.

Speaking at the NFL Scouting Combine, New York Giants general manager Dave Gettleman told the media that the organization was “open for business” when it comes to potentially trading the No. 4 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, per Ralph Vacchiano of SNY. And it’s hard to argue with the logic of why they would be willing to do so.

While Gettleman does not have a history of trading frequently in the NFL Draft, a frenzy for quarterbacks at the top of the draft is a prime opportunity to milk value out of the pick and trade down. They could potentially land multiple top-100 selections to improve a roster that is more than just one No. 4 pick away from competing.

So after taking Daniel Jones at No. 6 overall last season, the Giants could be trading down in 2020. But who could New York potentially make a deal with? Let’s look at five possible trade partners that could be looking to move up for a quarterback.

5. Miami Dolphins

Whenever you’re talking about potential trades in the 2020 NFL Draft, especially ones that would potentially involve moving up for a quarterback, the Miami Dolphins are going to enter the discussion. Armed with three first-round picks (No. 5, 18 and 26), the franchise has an arsenal to move up with should they want to.

As the draft order currently stands, the Dolphins are the second team that seemingly is after a quarterback that will come on the clock. However, with teams immediately behind them also in need at the position, it could be necessary for them to trade up to ensure that they get their guy, be it Tua Tagovailoa or Justin Herbert.

While that may be true, trading up to No. 4 for the Dolphins seems like an ill-advised move. They would be better served using their immense draft capital over the next two years to try and get up to No. 3 via a trade with the Lions to truly ensure Miami lands their preferred quarterback. Even still, they have to be mentioned as a possible trade partner for Big Blue.
