According to Ben Volin of the Boston Globe, the quarterback market in free agency won’t begin to settle until it’s clear what Tom Brady will do next. The 20-year veteran has spent his entire career with the New England Patriots and it’s hard to imagine a scenario by which Brady is not back in Foxborough next fall.

On the other hand, Bill Belichick has been consistent with turning the page from players that have aged out of effectiveness and Brady had some of the weakest numbers of his career in 2019, although how much of that was on him and how much was due to changes in his receiving corps — most notably the retirement of tight end Rob Gronkowski — is up for debate.

Brady’s 4,057 yards were his lowest total since throwing for 3,554 in his suspension-shortened 2016 season and his 253.6 yards per game average was his worst since he threw for 243.8 a game in 2010, a season in which he had a ridiculous ratio of 36 touchdowns to four interceptions.

Last season, Brady completed 60.8 percent of his throws (the lowest percentage he’s had since a 60.5 percent mark in 2013) with 24 touchdowns (fewest in a full season since 24 touchdown tosses in 2006) and eight interceptions.

Jeff Darlington of ESPN said last week on the Golic and Wingo Show could be enticed that Brady to go somewhere and help create a winning culture.

"“He loves the idea of going in and really creating and helping to impart a culture on an organization that maybe is not quite there yet.”"

But Mike Reiss of ESPN argues that the culture argument also makes Brady loathe to leave what he’s helped to build in New England. At the end of the day, one of these guys is going to be right and the other will be off by a country mile, but it’s hard to imagine Tom Brady in the NFL and not wearing the patriotic Elvis on his helmet.
