To the credit of the Lions, they have done their best to try and address the issues at linebacker. They selected Jarrad Davis in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, took Jahlani Tavai in Round 2 last year and also have 2017 fourth-rounder Jalen Reeves-Maybin along with veterans Devon Kennard and Christian Jones. The issue, however, is that the group has still consistently not performed at the level they need to.

Kenneth Murray falling to No. 35 is subsequently a gift for Detroit. While he’s not the quickest in short areas, Murray was a tackling machine at Oklahoma and showed tremendous sideline-to-sideline speed. Moreover, Murray arriving in the Motor City would immediately give the Lions their best coverage linebacker and give the unit a boost in a way that they sorely need it.

There’s no escaping the holes that the Detroit Lions have on the interior of their offensive line. While 2018 first-round pick Frank Ragnow looks promising at center, Joe Dahl has been nothing more than fine at his best while Graham Glasgow, who started in 2019, is now set to hit free agency. This is an area that must be addressed in the 2020 NFL Draft and Jonah Jackson is the right guy to slot in there.

At Ohio State after transferring from Rutgers, Jackson proved to be a fantastic fit as a player who can get into space and make plays as an athletic interior offensive lineman. While he needs to hit the weight room and improve on his functional strength, he projects as a player who could see the field right away and, particularly in Detroit, improve the blocking in both the run and passing games.
