Iowa offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs is expected to be a high selection in the 2020 NFL Draft. Here are the five best landing spots for the former Hawkeye.

The first round of the 2020 NFL Draft kicks off on April 23, and former Iowa offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs expects to hear his name called early.

The former four-star recruit from Mount Vernon, IA was the first offensive tackle to start as a true freshman in the Kirk Ferentz era. After displaying his best season in 2019, Wirfs elected to forgo his senior year of eligibility and entered his name into the 2020 draft.

Standing at 6-5 and 320 pounds, Wirfs is one of the most athletically gifted big men in the draft. He hang cleaned 450 pounds for four reps, an Iowa program record previously held by current Washington Redskins Pro Bowl guard Brandon Scherff, who was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2015 draft.

Wirfs was named the Rimington-Pace Offensive Lineman of the Year in the Big Ten this past season, along with being named an AP Second-team All-American and First-team All-Big Ten. He logged 693 snaps at right tackle and 161 snaps at left tackle in 2019. According to Pro Football Focus, Wirfs allowed just seven pressures on 461 pass-blocking snaps.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, Wirfs put on a historic performance by producing a 4.85-second 40-yard dash, 24 bench press reps, 36.5-inch vertical leap (Combine record) and 10-1 broad jump (tied Combine record).

On the field, Wirfs has issues with occasionally over-setting in his pass sets, but he’s a dominant run blocker who has the ability to thrive in a zone-blocking system. Most believe he can play right tackle in the NFL, though some think he should move inside to guard.

So where can we expect the former Hawkeye to be taken this April? Here are the five best fits for Tristan Wirfs in the 2020 NFL Draft.
