Minnesota Vikings: 4 Top targets in 2020 NFL free agency
2. Anthony Castonzo
Another area of concern that might pop up for the Minnesota Vikings this offseason as far as a position they should address comes on the offensive line. Although it was an improved unit and group in 2019, the Vikings offensive line has been something the organization has tried to fix over the last few seasons while they have experienced a lack of talent among that group.
One player that could help in turning that around and improving things on the offensive line in Minnesota could be Indianapolis Colt veteran tackle Anthony Castonzo, who will arguably be the best free-agent tackle available on the market.
In 2019, Castonzo wrapped up his ninth season in the NFL and with the Colts after the now 31-year-old broke into the league as a first-round pick by Indianapolis in the 2011 NFL Draft out of Boston College.
During the regular season, Castonzo appeared in all 16 games for the Colts, the third tie he has done so in the last four years and something he has now done a total of six times in his professional career.
On the year, Castonzo racked up two penalties and allowed three sacks among the Colts offensive line while taking the field and playing in 100 percent of the snaps in 2019.
In Minnesota, the Vikings had Riley Reiff slotted in at the left tackle position during the season last year, but he could potentially be a candidate to be cut heading into the 2020 campaign due to his sizeable contract.
That could result in Minnesota ultimately cutting Reiff and looking to the free-agent market for a cheaper option, and they should try all they can do go out and grab Castonzo to give a boost to the unit in charge of protecting Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins and the group that will lead the way for Dalvin Cook and the Minnesota rushing attack in 2020.
