The NFL Combine is a proving ground for prospects to show off their ability, so who were the biggest risers and fallers for the 2020 NFL Draft?

No one looking at the 2020 NFL Draft should make the mistake of basing everything on the NFL Combine. You can’t rank prospects just in order of how fast they ran the 40-yard dash or based on who jumped the highest. However, the NFL Combine does matter in putting athletic testing numbers on paper and pairing that with what you see on film.

In that regard, the Combine is arguably the biggest stepping stone before the NFL Draft takes place. It’s a time when players can either put worries about aspects of their profile at ease or they can make teams go back to the film and question what they previously saw. Put simply, draft stock can fluctuate and prospects can rise and fall based on what happened in Indianapolis.

There are certain cases where fantastic athletes that were obvious on film did exactly what they were supposed to. Two prime examples of that are Clemson linebacker Isaiah Simmons and Alabama wide receiver Henry Ruggs III. Both players tested at the top of their position group — but that was expected.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, there were players who had their time to shine at the NFL Combine cut short due to injury. Some of the biggest names in that regard are Oklahoma and LSU linebackers Kenneth Murray and Patrick Queen, along with Colorado wide receiver Laviska Shenault Jr.

However, none of those 2020 NFL Draft prospects are going to be considered the risers and fallers from the NFL Combine. Instead, this is about the players who either exceeded or fell short of expectations or what many hoped they’d test like in Indianapolis. These are the biggest risers and fallers from the 2020 NFL Combine.
