The New England Patriots need big moves in 2020 NFL free agency and one move should be to sign veteran wide receiver Dez Bryant. Here’s why.

With 2020 NFL free agency just a few weeks away, it will be very interesting to keep an eye on the New England Patriots and how they attack the open market in the middle of March. The biggest question for the Patriots lies with veteran quarterback Tom Brady and if he decides to leave in free agency or ultimately return to the only franchise he’s played for during his 20-year career.

Although Brady is the topic at the top of the list for the Patriots, there are plenty of other holes that the organization will have to try and fill alongside the quarterback position before the 2020 season kicks off.

One position of need for New England that ended up being a glaring issue during the 2019 campaign came at the wide receiver position and providing Brady with targets in the passing game on the offensive side of the ball.

That issue could motivate the Patriots into looking at the free-agent pool this month to acquire some talent to throw into the mix offensively, and there will likely be some candidates out there they could explore and engage with once the signing period officially opens.

One name that could be interesting for New England to look at and explore the possibility of signing is former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant, who was once viewed as one of the top wideouts in the league during the early stages of his career in The Big D.

Bryant, who will turn 32 years old in November, hasn’t played in the NFL since the 2017 campaign with Dallas after spending his first eight NFL seasons with the Cowboys from 2010-17.

The wideout, who was selected 24th overall out of Oklahoma State by Dallas in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft, holds career totals of 531 receptions for 7,459 yards and 73 touchdowns. During that eight-year run with the Cowboys, Bryant averaged 66.4 catches, 932.4 receiving yards and 9.1 receiving touchdowns per season.

Although the Patriots have a few holes to fill this offseason, Bryant could be an enticing option to sign before the 2020 season commences. Before that could happen, let’s dive into three reasons why New England and Bryant should both express interest in uniting this year.
