2. Dallas Cowboys

When you look at the Dallas Cowboys salary cap situation without any context, they look to be sitting pretty with $76.78 million in cap space. However, when you consider that Dak Prescott, Amari Cooper, Byron Jones and Robert Quinn, among others, need new contracts, that total virtually all goes away. And as they re-sign players, the popular belief is that Jones, their No. 1 cornerback, will be on the move in free agency.

That leaves the secondary in a tricky position. The Cowboys admittedly have two promising young corners in Chidobe Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis but they lack a true alpha dog. And considering that Chris Harris Jr. might come cheaper than re-signing Jones given the former’s age, they could be in on signing him this offseason.

Of course, there’s the chance that Dallas is priced out of the conversation but, if things play out as they should, Harris could be in play as a veteran replacement for Jones in the secondary.

1. Las Vegas Raiders

After trading away Gareon Conley last season, the Raiders thrust then-rookie Trayvon Mullen into their No. 1 cornerback role. And while there were certainly some stumbling points along the way for the Clemson product, he improved as the year went on and was a solid player by the end of the season. The issue, however, is that there is little to no depth behind Mullen on the Las Vegas roster as Daryl Worley hits free agency.

Harris could immediately enter the fray and be the No. 1 cornerback on the Raiders defense. Not only would that fortify the secondary in itself but the veteran coming in would also not put too much pressure on Mullen to rush his development in his young career. And with over $50 million to use in NFL free agency, Las Vegas could be a top destination for Harris.
