One way for the Chicago Bears to fill their holes is going through free agency. Here are five top targets to go after.

The new NFL season and, subsequently, the beginning of 2020 NFL free agency are less than two weeks away. The Chicago Bears are among the teams expected to make some noise (maybe not a loud noise) and sign some players.

The draft is a good way to get good, young players for a good period at a cheap price. It isn’t always the best route to go, however, especially when you want to win quickly. Some teams (and I put the Bears in that group) are just a few pieces away from being very competitive. In order to help get that along, teams need to add veterans in key positions.

There are some veterans the Bears could use to help win. They might not go after the expensive, top-tier targets, but there are still plenty of other targets who can help the team win.

General manager Ryan Pace tends to surprise people. His free agency and draft choices have differed greatly from what many experts predicted. That causes some frustrations but a lot of those head-scratchers worked. Look at last year’s signing of Buster Skrine.

That signing caused a lot of moans and groans, but he ended up having a good first season in Chicago. Pace is quiet and doesn’t show his hand until it’s time to make a decision. We can look at his history, though, and get an idea of what he might do. I’ll go more into that later.

Pace needs to make some big decisions on his players. The Bears have several players hitting free agency. Does Pace try to keep the continuity by bringing a lot of them back, or does he try to add something new into the mix to see if that works better?

In this article, I will look into five spots that free agents could step in and help right away. They should be a good fit and do well with the Chicago Bears. Here they are.
