Every NFL team’s most underrated offensive weapon entering 2020
Jacksonville Jaguars: Chris Conley
The Jacksonville Jaguars were a pass-heavy team in 2019 despite their quarterback situation. While Nick Foles and Gardner Minshew had not been entirely effective during the year, their immense passing volume still allowed the Jaguars to become a top-16 passing offense.
While DJ Chark and Dede Westbrook were the most notable receivers in Jacksonville, former Chief Chris Conley may become a mainstay in the offense next season. Conley did surprisingly well despite the quarterback turmoil, catching 47 balls for 775 yards and five touchdowns in 2019. His 16.5 yards per reception led all Jaguars receivers and ranked 13th among all wideouts in the NFL.
Conley was a solid route runner and could work the middle of the field with ease. His 4.35 speed, 146.0 burst score, and 10.51 catch radius ranked him in the 98th percentile of all wideouts in the NFL. He has the tools and athleticism to be a dominant receiver and could surpass 1,000 yards next year if given the opportunity.
Given the Jaguars are struggling to create cap space and have other needs around the roster, it seems unlikely they will bring in major competition to supplant Conley. With a full offseason to work with Minshew, Conley could have a breakout season in 2020 just like Chark did in 2019.
